Upon leaving school, Brenda started working in the Mills near Halifax. She soon met coal face worker Les Fox in 1958 and they began courting, getting engaged in 1960 and then married at South Kirkby Parish Church on the 6th of October 1962. Their wedding featured in the local newspaper with Brenda's '5 Maids'. Brenda moved from the Mills and started work as a machinist at Invictor Textiles. Les & Brenda bought their first house, 243 Harrow Street, South Elmsall. They paid the pricely sum of £815.00! In January 1964 Brenda gave birth to her first child, Shaun. Two years later, on the same date, Michelle followed. For the next sixteen years family life took over as Les & Brenda raised Shaun & Michelle before they flew the nest to start their own adult lives.
