The 2008 'Walk To D'Feet MND' from Hemsworth to South Elmsall was a huge success! The weather stayed fine, despite the threat of a shower or two. I'd like to thank everyone who took part in the event. Approximately fifty people joined the walk with another twenty or thirty supporting us at the beginning, along the way and at the end. The event drew support from Brenda's family, friends and wellwishers from across the community. The local press came to take photos and our event was featured on local radio station 'Ridings FM' on their hourly news bulletins all day! Meanwhile, those who couldn't quite manage the four mile walk helped out by collecting money in our special buckets and collecting tins. Barbara, Dora, Joanne, Sue and many more mingled among shoppers in Hemsworth and South Elmsall with their collection buckets and managed to collect over £100.00. Meanwhile, the walkers went in most of the shops on the route and politely asked passers by for donations. A special mention has to go to Dave Murphy who managed to collect over £60.00 in his collection tin! Altogether, we raised over £500.00 from the collecting tins & buckets. This doesn't include the sponsorship money, which is still to be collected. Lots of people were donating money. Drivers were stopping and giving money to us, shop owners, shoppers and just passers by all donated generously. Thanks to you all! Click on the right to see some images from the event. Thanks to David Stringfellow for some of them! (Even though you cheated and took the short cut!!!).
